04/24/20: White Wedding/Marriage and the family

When It comes to a wedding many women fantasize about it their whole life and want it to be the most perfect day ever and they have all these things that they want to be done ignorer to make the day absolutely perfect. When it comes to the white wedding we already associate this between a man and a woman and that kids are supposed to come after the wedding but if they are already involved its not usually with the thought that they are co parenting at all and the modern family of size has also gotten bigger. The roles of both gender are very much already pre applied on how the man must be masculine and the women be gentle and very submissive to the husband. We also mix up ideals of relationships and marriages with reality of marriages they think that there marriage will be perfect and the day has to be just as perfect but in reality that is not what is going to happen. We look at how society has evolved many things have also changed with the same sex marriage now and the ideological wedding more people are starring to get away from and more people want to create what genuinely will make them happy and having the biggest wedding and wearing the prettiest white dress is not ideal to everyone.

04/21/20: Toy Story Observation

When it comes to toys and how they are organized I know at my job we have a kids section in our store and I work with the people to clean it up and how to decorate it and I can tell you that toys are organized as being gender separate. When it comes to room decor we have a blue side and then we have a side where stuff is pink we create table that are put forth on this is how to decorate your sons room and then here’s another table and this is how you will decorate your daughters room. During Christmas time this is very prevalent because that is when we create whole sections with the genders but at the same time we have puzzles so we considering those the most gender neutral unless it has a dinosaur then we put that in the boys section. When it comes to the barbies and the baby stuff then is put near the girls or anything dealing with foods and play house and the guys get more of the nerf guns and the cars and also more of the scientific things. When customers come to me and say they want to put together. a baby shower gift I always ask what gender to start the base of the basket but at the same time I am aware that sometimes they are having a baby shower and there is no gender yet announced and it gets harder because everything is usually pink or blue so I usually go to spectrum of yellow and grey. So some toys and colors are gender neutral but for majority there is signs for the gender aimed at whether that be what gender the person is on the box playing with the toys.

04/20/20: Women in the military

When it comes to the military and women there are many studies that are going to say how exactly gender roles have an impact on the military. Considering I am going to be going to the military I’ve already seen and heard how the power is . The men are more superior and the women are not meant to get to the top . But I do know that the beauty of being a women in the military does take you places and give you more advances . There is harassment that occurs because gender plays a very high role when it comes to the military and you have to respect it and your gender is brought up a lot whether that is your abilities and they then determine whether or not you can do something. There is not equality when it comes to gender because the men are more or higher and the women usually want to get there to then creates the mess of trying to get to the males position . Standards in the military are a lot of times based off your gender and this is when it seems harder for women to join especially when it comes to the physical test and then we also have to keep in our minds what women have to deal with which is mensural and also when it comes to pregnancy. Power is all about the perception but when it comes to the military gender is still a very important role.

04/20/20: The importance of being Beautiful

Being beautiful in society can get you many places which majority of society would tell you considering in the real world you beauty can take you places that you might not have thought before. Whether this could be a job or this could be a friend group considering that you’re a beauty to the eye. You are also more likely to get away with things I know I’ve got told like oh I’m only letting it slide because your pretty so it shows the importance that beauty take in the real world. When your beautiful more people want to love you and show you attention even as a baby if there is a pretty baby you are more likely to take pictures of them and show it off to your friends and this gets followed as well when it comes to school because that is when you see how much other people there are in the world and how they look different and that also brings up the topic of being beautiful as well. In middle school and high school you get a glimpse of this but as life goes on and we transition to the real world we see how much it does take you places like I said with a job opening I’ve got told by many military people as well if your pretty then you will get further because you have an advantage. When it comes to college you also see so much more diversity because your not at high school with the same people you are now with so many people and the ages are of so much variety considering that they all have different things going for them and now our standards are being shaped. When it comes to marriage you wants your significant other to compliment you and so many people go off that on when it comes to finding their husband or wife especially if you are stuck with them for life you want to find them beautiful.

04/19/20: But what do you mean?

When It comes to conversation between a female and a male it is a very hot topic. I deal with this In my life Daily and it still amazes me how everyone is so different when it comes to communication. When it comes to apologizing a man is the one who usually will apologize but at the same time the woman feels like they also feel the need to take the blame in some situations because morally a woman is supposed to be submissive. In many conversations a plain I’m sorry doesn’t work anymore but rather we want more elaboration and then we see how the person backs up their apology do we then see if whether it felt meaningful to us or not. When it comes to criticism that will always play a role because the roles of both the woman and the men are different and while society evolves it has now became sort of flipped because some woman now carry the morals like men do and its threw the whole spectrum off. When it comes to thank yous it is a moral and respect factor and usually a man is always supposed to respect a woman just because of the gender that she has in society. When it comes to fighting the conversation can be very diverse because now I feel like before woman do not respect the man as they sued too in the past and because of that many fights have now broken down couples. When it comes to praise in my family it was always taught that the man was supposed to be the head of the house hold but now I feel like woman are more wanting to be praised for the stance that they have and they want to make sure it is known that they are doing everything and they should be applauded for it rather then before woman would happily do it in silence. Complaining is always going to happen between a man and woman because they never want to compromise or when they do its like they are both not on the same page but they do want to solve problems but women always usually want to stir the pot and add some extras. Joking also plays a very big role but I feel like over the years men and women are able to joke with each other more openly and freely.

04/18/20: On becoming Female

When it comes to becoming a female there is a lot of things that come along with being one whether it be the way you are supposed to carry yourself and also your physical appearance. When it comes to physical appearance it is very important in the female world because the way you are supposed to look is already presumed . Media playing apart has also been a big game changer because before we would look in a magazine but now we are having to see it constantly all over the internet on how we are supposed to look whether our makeup be a certain way or our body has to be snatched. With dealing with girls there is gossip and there is always it seems to be that females are in competition with each other and that be whether on how they look or how they act. We are always having to stay on top of our appearance because we always want to make sure that we look good and that we are portrayed in the best version possible .

04/18/20: On becoming male

When it comes to becoming a male you are already like I’ve said put into a category on other someone is masculine or feminine. From birth we are already shaped to who we are going to become which this means by clothing to the gender color so this shapes them to be masculine or feminine whichever is gender appropriate. When it comes to society they are already molding us to play the gender that we are and our parents play a big role in this considering they are also pushing us to become a certain way whether this be if your a woman you need to cook and then if your a man that you are supposed to be working. When it comes to freedom behaviors will be different especially because we already have pre set conditions with people considering if someone is a girl it is okay for them to be soft and just not so outspoken and then when it comes to a guy they are supposed to be strong and they are not supposed to be sad or cry or anything at least not show any emotion. When it comes to puberty it begins to change for both genders because before the society taught them to be totally separate and we are supposed to think boys have cooties and then once puberty hits then it is okay now for us to then be with each other and that both genders have to be a certain way and the man is supposed to respect the woman and that plays its part as well.

04/18/20: Sexuality and Gender

When it comes to gender we are pre segregated when we are in adolescence and we transition into the school world we are told that girls play with girls and boys play with boys. Slowly do they both intertwine and mix and that when sharing comes into play. The morals of gender come into play this when girls are taught to be gentle and the little boys are the more rough ones but if they can both mutually get along that is when they share somewhat when they meet somewhere in the gender middle. A boy isn’t supposed to play with barbies and play house but rather he is too play with cars or legos what does that tell us ? Women are at home and men are usually out constructing those are pre sexualized roles. After being put into this situation they then transition to more of a wider spectrum of society at this point kids of both genders play together but the morals still follow girls think boys are nasty and the boys are just boys. There are gender arrangements and they are already instilled that a Girl and boy go together and if you think other wise a boy is there to tell you that if a guy doesn’t like a girl they are labeled with homophobic labels. What taught them that ? society. We rarely cross gender because we are gender isolated and I feel that there is huge gap between sexuality and gender because before they would go hand In hand but now society wants to view them separate. Children’s world have changed over the years me being a child is way different then being a child now society has evolved into a way more accepting society. 20 years ago I never heard of transgenders and now in kids schools they are getting read books about being transgender and how to accept is and why to accept it. Everything is due to how society has changed and I’m excited to see what is yet to come with the next society change of acceptance there will be.

04/18/20: Chapter 11: Beauty/Ideology

Beauty. A word that many do not understand and will never understand . Society has brought us a word and there is really no definite answer we look at society and we describe things as beautiful but do we really know what beauty means and represents. We google beauty and many women faces will pop up because there is an ideal picture of a women who describes beauty. In society that we live in we say beauty is in the eye of the beholder but in reality is that true or is it a sugar coat to a bigger question. We socially constructed what an ideal person would be we look at barbies and were taught that’s women look but in reality there is not living women that looks like barbie. Now shouldn’t that tell us something we grew up around a toy that was beautiful and ideal but in reality there was no such thing. In society as a women we are taught to keep up with hygiene and our feminine appearance we should have no hair grown out on our body other than our head we are told we need straight white teeth and we need to not have an excess amount of body fat . We need to represents models but in reality is that even healthy? We live in a culture that has told us how to be beautiful but beautiful changes every single year . No matter how much cosmetology surges someone is to get they are not perfect and that should tell us we shouldn’t chase perfection when there is no such thing. We look at Americas ideal beauty and then we look at Europe’s ideal beauty and they will be totally different and that is because social location . In America we are told to be thick in Europe we are told to be more a natural beauty and that should show us that beauty is different universally. With beauty comes skin tone and that is a topic many people do not like to speak about because race scares so many people on having a civil conversation about. Beauty and skin tone can clash because you might hear ” your pretty for a white girl” how is that supposed to be translated? Societies ideal is something that we never really see. We might say someone is the prettiest ever but to someone else they could see totally different. In the beginning I said what is beauty after reading this chapter I still have the same question because there is not real answer. Society chases beauty and we all see beauty different and if everyone realized that they wouldn’t try to socially construct themselves into becoming the perfect for everybody. Marketing and beauty have created many topics of discussion because no one really turns to acne skin or over weight people as being ideal or beautiful but rather told ” they’re beautiful on the inside” . Us as a society are confused on what beauty is so society told us that beautiful is skinny but not too skinny.
