03/09/20: Ehrenreich, Nickeled and Dimed

With living with social class no one will really be on the same financial level and there will always be an imbalance. The way that the world is set up is already set for there to be imbalances and for their to be some more wealthy people than others. This reading validates just that so much of nicety is set up for the porter to not exactly succeed and have many things in place that hinder the success of many. For example the whole having to secure rent for two months for some lower class people that is usually a struggle but depending on their social class they might not even actually give them a chance in the long run. Many of the jobs though that people were willing to actually work hard for now though run into the issue that many of these jobs are being replaced. In class we discussed how although you just had you High School Diploma there was still plenty of way that people were able to get ahead in life and receive benefits but now it seems like if you don’t have an Associates degree which is almost now on the same level as a high school diploma it is much harder to succeed at all.
