When it comes to ex convicts the main issue that many people tend to turn to is the ” race” part of the criminal justice system which makes the whole system unjust. Also when you look at ex convicts you tend to look at why exactly did they go to jail because that can also add pressure on whether or not someone will hire them or not and can be involved in the decision making. This researcher noticed that when it came to the people with criminal records they had to in a sense work harder so for example they had to provide more information and clarity on whether or not what exactly their past was about . They also even had one person take a 45 minute test to base the level of knowledge in a particular area that they had. In some instances so of the people who were hiring said they prefer to hire ex convicts because they have more discipline and are also more motivated and some were not willing to really see them on the same level as someone else who was applying. When it came to race on the other hand it reflected that race still was a huge factor with many of these considering that Blacks were 24% less likely to get a job compared to a White person. After this research was done the conclusion of this discussion being made was that there are many limits on employment opportunities when having a criminal record and that it creates a major barrier with the employment of them. The race inequality also adds fuel to this fire because they bother intertwine and create an issue as well and they both can lead to less opportunities for success.
